- Hi, Joergen, What you seek is very hard to find. Especially Jazz. The only finished projects I know about that are available as GarageBand Projects that you can download for free and do what you will with them (other than sell them as your own) are the ones offered by the band, Nine Inch Nails, on their website.
- Nine Inch Nails Releases 2nd Song for GarageBand Monday, June 27th, 2005 at 3:00 PM - by Bryan Chaffin The band Nine Inch Nails has released a second song, ' Only,' from the With Teeth album as a free GarageBand file, extending the band's efforts to use the power of digital recordings to empower its fan-base to make new creations from the band.
That’s right, it’s not just us mere mortals who can’t get enough of Apple’s musical marvel – Some of the biggest names in the music industry love to use Garageband regularly.
Musicians and bands like Courtney Love, Panic! At The Disco, Limp Bizkit and Kate Nash frequently use Garageband as their go-to way to record song ideas and lay down demos.
The three musical icons below chose to use Garageband a little differently, whether using the built in loops to build multi million selling records or sharing entire albums with their fans in Garageband project format….
Radiohead
Radiohead’s 2008 release ‘In Rainbows’ was ground breaking in a couple of ways.
Not only was it an excellent record musically, the band released it via a ‘pay what you want’ format. While this doesn’t seem like a big deal nowadays with the rise of Bandcamp.com and the like at the time, no-one had seen anything like it.
As If that wasn’t enough, Radiohead also released two of their tracks from the album to be remixed by fans.
First off they released the stem files for their single ‘Nude’ on the iTunes store, enabling fans to download the Bass, Drum, Guitar, String FX and Voice stems individually, each costing the same as a regular iTunes single track.
If you downloaded all of the stems before April 8 of that year, you gained access to a complete Garageband project file of ‘Nude’, allowing you even more control over your remix.
Remixes were then entered to an official Remix website and the winner was ultimately chosen by Radiohead’s fans.
Later that same year Radiohead ran an almost identical contest for another track from ‘In Rainbows’ – ‘Reckoner’. Again they publicly released the individual stem tracks that could then be imported to a Garageband project and remixed.
Needless to say, the response to these remix competitions was immense and helped give rise to a remix culture prevalent in ‘home-brew’ music today.

You Remember ‘Umbrella’ right?
Rihanna’s massively popular single dominated music charts around the world for what seemed like forever, giving birth to countless cover versions by everyone from Biffy Clyro to The Baseballs.
Not only did the success of the track cement Rihanna’s place as an über bankable pop mega beast, ‘Umbrella’s’ producer – The Dream (possibly not his real name) – netted a reported $15 million dollars for engineering and putting together the track – that’s roughly $200,000 per word for a whole lot of ella’s ella’s….
What does all this have to do with Garageband?
Check out the official video for Umbrella in the video below – pay particular attention to the intro drum loop…….

Here’s what they have to say about it:
As the news seems to turn ever more grim by the hour, we’ve found ourselves vacillating wildly between feeling like there may be hope at times to utter despair – often changing minute to minute. Although each of us define ourselves as antisocial-types who prefer being on our own, this situation has really made us appreciate the power and need for CONNECTION.

Music – whether listening to it, thinking about it or creating it – has always been the thing that helped us get through anything – good or bad. With that in mind, we decided to burn the midnight oil and complete these new Ghosts records as a means of staying somewhat sane.
Ghosts V: Together is for when things seem like it might all be okay, and Ghosts VI: Locusts… well, you’ll figure it out.
It made us feel better to make these and it feels good to share them. Music has always had a way of making us feel a little less alone in the world… and hopefully it does for you, too. Remember, everyone is in this thing together and this too shall pass.
We look forward to seeing you again soon.
Be smart and safe and take care of each other.
With love,
